U19 QISN Volleyball Championships Held at QAIS

Qingdao Amerasia International School hosted the Qingdao International Sports Network volleyball tournament for students age 19 and younger the week leading up to Saturday, November 17, 2018. This year, the tournament involved 10 individual schools from Qingdao and the Shandong Province. Eight boys teams and ten girls teams competed to be the top volleyball team in the QISN.

In addition to hosting the nearly 250 athletes and coaches, QAIS competed against strong competition. Both teams made it to the quarterfinals of competition where they were defeated by teams that went on to compete in the championship games. While we did not see the success we had hoped for on the court, our athletes grew in their ability to work as a team and compete against top volleyball teams. Both teams surprised top teams, and themselves, with their competitive play against far more experienced teams.

The tournament was a great success for QAIS as it was the first QISN tournament hosted by the school on-site. This is a significant step forward in the growth of the school as we are able to show that we are becoming a competitive school in the region.

QAIS should be proud of the work of the staff and students for this successful event. We look forward to hosting future events on site.
The overall champions of the tournament were the men’s and women’s teams of the International School of Qingdao. While QAIS did not bring home a championship trophy, the girls team was recognized for the Sportsmanship Award by the coaches for the efforts on the court. Congratulations to both the men’s and women’s teams for their efforts at the tournament.
