QAIS Celebrates the Campus Grand Opening and Chinese New Year in Style
After a month of exploring the multitude of hallways in our new school building, QAIS celebrated the campus Grand Opening and Chinese New Year together with students, parents, construction crews, and staff members on Monday afternoon in our new auditorium.
The festivities began with a traditional Chinese New Year Lion Dance followed immediately by the enchanting sounds of the QAIS-Baishan Orchestra as they played a beautiful medley of traditional Chinese folk tunes.
Dr. Dan North’s video then showcased the humble beginnings of QAIS and the first 1,175 days of our journey of growth from 2011 to 2018. Most remarkable was the video footage of the Baishan campus from 1993 all the way up to the recent renovations of our new building. The video was followed by an awards presentation and acknowledgement of all the construction crews and parent donors who made the vision of our new home a reality.
With a Chinese Gongfu Fan dance by Grade 3 students and a musical preview performed by the cast of Peter Pan, the celebration activities were kicked off!
Craft activities for our Toddler and EC students included decorating lanterns, as well as making paper drums, dog masks and lucky fish. PYP, MYP and DP activities included lantern riddles, paper cutting, pinch pots, Chinese calligraphy and painting, bamboo dancing, dumpling and lantern creation, Chinese zodiac masks, dough figurines, shadow puppet theater, sugar art and a traditional Chinese instrument showing.
If today was anything of an indicator for what awaits us in our new QAIS campus, we’re headed for an inspiring, energetic and creative experience!
经过一个多月的各部门的协调准备，新校园有了新年新风貌。本周一下午，QAIS新校落成庆典暨新春联欢活动隆重举行，全校师生及各施工单位负责人齐聚白珊礼堂，欢度庆典。
庆典仪式以精彩的传统舞狮表演开始，紧接着QAIS-白珊管弦乐团的天籁之音，把观众带入了和谐美妙的中国传统民族音乐世界。
Dan老师的视频带我们一同见证了QAIS从2011到2018年1175天的成长历程。我们从一系列镜头中看到了1993年的白珊校区变成如今崭新的校园，这更是人赞叹不已。视频后，我们为施工单位及家长捐赠者进行了感谢仪式，是他们让共筑新家园的愿景得以实现。
伴随着3年级学生表演的功夫扇和Peter Pan全体演员的音乐剧表演，庆典活动正式开始！
小小班和幼儿园的小朋友一起装饰灯笼，制作小手鼓，小狗面具还有年年有“鱼”。PYP，MYP和DP的学生，猜灯谜，剪纸，投壶，中国书法和绘画，竹杆舞，包饺子，扎灯笼，捏面人，皮影戏，糖画和传统的中国乐器展。活动丰富多彩，欢声笑语充满了校园。
