Fushan Tunnels
Chris Cronin, physical education teacher, and Jeff La Roux, English teacher, combined their class time to take the ninth and tenth grade students to Fushan. Mr. Chris led the way up mountain paths to the top where everyone viewed the expanse of Qingdao, took pictures, and entered dark tunnels. The students explored the tunnels as a group, seeing the view that former soldiers would have seen. At one point, they turned off their torches and listened by candle light to Mr. Jeff read the beginning of a novel that is set in a dark tunnel. The students will continue their study of the novel, Anthem, back at school.
