Early Childhood ‘Moving Up’ Ceremony

Early Childhood ‘Moving Up’ Ceremony

There was not a dry eye in the room when nine of our Early Childhood students marked their ‘moving up’ to first grade! In a Montessori environment like our QAIS Children’s House, students remain in the same classroom for three years, gradually growing in their mastery of the learning materials, and in their social and emotional maturity.

This was the first ‘Moving Up’ ceremony to be held at QAIS since our Montessori Primary Class began in 2011. We were touched to recognize children who have spent three full years in the Children’s House, and also to recognize those who have more recently brought their light to our classes. We look forward to having them form our first Montessori Grade 1 cohort in Fall!

We thank their teachers, Katy Porray and Mia Xiao of the Lotus Cottage, and Laura Roark and Sabrina Zhong of the Peony Cottage, for nurturing each child’s inner light during their time in the Early Childhood classes. We are also grateful for the expertise and leadership of our Montessori Children’s House Coordinator, Dr. Vanessa Rigaud!
