Early Childhood Graduation

Early Childhood Graduation

On Friday, June 19th, we celebrated the graduation of ten students from the Montessori Early Childhood Program, having completed the ‘Kindergarten’ portion of their EC career! In addition to the knowledge they have acquired in the areas of Language, Math, Cultural Studies, Practical Life, and Sensorial, they have experienced being leaders and role models in the classroom, befriending and caring for their younger classmates.

In a Montessori Early Childhood program, children from ages 3-6 are grouped together in the same classroom. This multi-age grouping is unique to the Montessori approach, and has a tremendous impact on children’s social and emotional development. By the time they ‘graduate’ at age 6, Montessori EC students have a rich experience of demonstrating pedagogical materials and setting the standard of ‘freedom within limits’ for their younger classmates to observe.

As they go on to Elementary, we are proud of their accomplishments, and in awe of their character!
