Deepen Your Understanding: The Diploma Program
On April 22nd, 2014, Qingdao Amerasia International School became the IB® World School in Shandong Province, and we can now offer the prestigious IB Diploma Program (for Grades 11 and 12) beginning in August, 2014. IB Diploma graduates typically receive advanced standing in university, meaning that they often complete their degree in 3 years. Also, because IB Diploma students are so desirable to top universities, many receive full scholarships for their bachelor’s study.
In order to make this program immediately accessible to talented students in Qingdao, QAIS is offering major tuition discounts for incoming international 11th-graders who demonstrate mastery of English and strong academic aptitude.
Why choose the Diploma Program?
The Diploma Program is an internationally recognized curriculum, designed to prepare students for the demands of college anywhere in the world. The International Baccalaureate organization maintains quality assurance of the rigor of the program, which is why schools must be authorized to teach the Diploma Program. The curriculum is designed to address the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical well-being of students aged 16-19. Students select courses offered in six diverse categories to provide a well-rounded foundation of study. In addition, students are challenged to apply their knowledge and skill to program requirements that broaden the educational experience: an extended essay, the theory of knowledge, and a course in creativity, action, and service (CAS). At the end of the two-year program, students take examinations provided by the International Baccalaureate organization. These assessments, administered on the same days around the world, reflect the learning of individual students and assure that the program is consistent world-wide. This is a quality educational program offered and supported by passionate and dedicated QAIS teachers.
At QAIS, we are pleased to offer the IB Diploma Program, and believe that this challenging curriculum will stretch our students to reach their potential as learners and as true global citizens.
