Celebrating, Sharing, and Reflecting

The theme of our fist unit of inquiry in Grade 3 was Who We Are, and as a class we explored the central idea of how people’s cultural background has an impact on their beliefs, values and actions.  This past Friday we invited the parents in to share and celebrate the completion of our newspaper articles called: Extra Extra Read All About Me!

The students prepared a self-reflection focusing on writing that they completed when their project was finished.  Each student read their newspaper article to their parent(s), shared their reflection sheets and set writing goals.  This was a fantastic opportunity for students and parents to have a discussion about their writing. Parents were asking questions, listening and giving feedback to their child. Congratulations to all the third graders for giving an amazing amount of effort to complete this writing project.
