[vc_row][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][u_heading]At QAIS we foster each child’s creativity to help students think outside of the box and apply their imagination to other aspects of their lives. [/u_heading][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]At Qingdao Amerasia International School, we believe that education should engage the senses, and that creative expression both demonstrates and challenges understanding.

Creativity is in addition to knowledge and personal development, and is a vital link in the comprehensive development of children. QAIS has a wide range of creative opportunities for students to enjoy. Art, Music, Violin, Design, Drama and Band are offered, in addition to after school activities that promote the arts.

In our vision for the broad development of children, we pay close attention to their expressive development. Within our school there is a continuous line of bringing together knowledge and skills in drawing, drama, music, crafts, art and culture.

Our art studio is an exciting place; in addition to studying two and three-dimensional art, our students learn that creating also involves watching, listening, and moving. The program integrates art education with other curricular areas, and brings our students into creative conversation with the Qingdao community.

Please stay tuned for upcoming Art events, and see how you can get involved with the Arts at QAIS![/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”13204″ img_size=”large” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”right” style=”vc_box_border”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][u_testimonial][u_testimonial_item name=”Devin Smith” title=”Art Teacher at QAIS” avatar=”11425″]Units focus on enduring human themes, such as traditions and identity, that show students the relevance of visual art in their own lives. Lessons offer opportunities for active inquiry as students learn and understand that art offers a way for people to share what they see and feel about themselves and others across time and place. Visual art techniques and skills are learned not as isolated concepts, but as ways in which students interpret ideas and express their own.

By emphasizing the importance of thinking, planning, and reflection in creating original artworks, students go beyond simple “arts and crafts.” Emphasis is placed not on the final product, but on the experimentation and inquiry that takes place throughout the art-making process.[/u_testimonial_item][/u_testimonial][/vc_column][/vc_row]
