Parent Connect recently hosted its inaugural Speaker Series event, “College Counseling: 5 Finger Balance with Dr. KFC,” providing an invaluable opportunity for the community. Esteemed College and Career Counselor Dr. KFC shared essential tools to help parents guide their children toward successful university acceptance. The event, attended by over 30 guests from across Qingdao, emphasized fostering a lifelong love of learning. It engaged parents to think globally and explore practical ways to support their child’s educational and college preparation journey. 

Andrew Sifton, Marketing Specialist and parent of IB DP graduates and a current DP 1 student, highlighted the value of both Amerasia and the IB programs. He emphasized that their mission goes beyond university admission, aiming for the “long game” of ensuring students thrive at university and beyond. For Andrew, the IB program has facilitated the growth and maturation of his children, enabling them to become contributing members of society as young adults. 

Parent Connect, Amerasia’s Parent-Teacher Association, is dedicated to building strong partnerships between home and school. Their mission is to enhance the academic, social, and cultural development of students while providing ongoing enrichment for the Amerasia community. This event was a testament to that commitment. 

Parent Connect encourages all community members to seize at least one opportunity to get involved this academic year. As the African proverb and Dr. KFC remind us: “It takes a village to raise a child.”
