A GLOBALLY ENGAGED ENVIRONMENT

What is International Mindedness? At QAIS it is a founding principle, a way of life and an ideal we strive for every single day. This paradigm shift requires of every single staff member, student and parent to remove their own cultural lens and look at the world with an international mind. A way of thinking, which celebrates and promotes a multitude of multilingualism, intercultural understanding and global engagement . 

This year our two guiding themes are “Gratitude” and “Embrace Diversity”. We are grateful to welcome staff from more than 14 different countries, 5 different continents, most of whom have lived in 2 countries other than their home country and some who have lived in up to 12 different countries. That means we all know what it is like to be ‘the other’ in a foreign culture and can strive to make no child feel left out because he or she is different. Teachers are risk-takers, who bring their travels and their broadened horizons into the classroom every single day.  

We all pledge to have every student, staff member, and parent treated with dignity and respect at all times. As a community, it is imperative that we show solidarity and constant vigilance to protect one another from speech, gestures, actions and attitudes that could be interpreted as hurtful or disrespectful toward anyone due to their race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, physical attributes, disability, age, or socio-economic status. We aim to love and respect one another so that we can bring our vision of a peaceful world one step closer to fruition.

什么是国际化的视野？在QAIS这是学校建立初始的原则，一种生活方式，以及我们每天追求的理想。这要求学校社区的员工、学生和家长在各自的文化视角之外，用一种国际化的思维看待世界。一种颂扬和促进多语种、跨文化理解和同理心的方式。

今年，我们的两大核心理念是”感恩”和”拥抱多元化”。我们感谢来自14个不同国家、五大洲的工作人员，其中大多数人在自己国家以外的两个的国家居住过，有些人曾生活在多达12个不同的国家。这意味着，我们已经感受到了在某一种文化下成为”另一个群体”是什么感觉，我们可以努力让任何孩子不因为与众不同而被冷落。而老师们每天会把旅行和开阔的视野带进课堂。

我们所有人承诺让每个学生、教职员工和家长都获得尊严和尊重。在这个社区，我们保持团结并时刻警醒，相互保护，防止因种族、肤色、民族、宗教、性别、性别认同、性取向、身体属性、残疾、年龄或社会经济地位而被伤害或遭受不尊重的言论、手势、行动和态度。我们的目标是彼此相爱和尊重，以此我们才能一步一步实现创造一个和平世界的愿景。
